Tokyo: First Impression

Arriving as a tourist in Tokyo is, I imagine, much like arriving in New York as a tourist.  Just like in New York, when you get off the plane you fly through customs, which is practically overstaffed with helpful, smiling young people, and then you board a train that leaves on time and does not smell like feet and you arrive in the city center.  Then you have to figure out the rather confusing local subway system, and, just as in New York, the moment you betray even a hint of confusion, a local transit worker jumps to attention, gives your clear and concise directions on how to get where you're going, and walks with you for 10 minutes to the proper station and sees you off.  Just like New York.  Such was our first impression of Tokyo.  Good god.

Also, new Hawaii and Japan pics here.
