Our last two days in Hawaii were basically just spent on the beach, which is to say they were amazing but a bit short on noteworthy details to report. We ate Acai bowls, which are heaping bowls of banana, granola, and honey on top of a frozen acai sorbet. We went to Banzai Pipeline, which is one of the most famous breaks in all of surfing, and watched monster swells that were too big for even the local pros to think about riding (video here, with some additional local fauna thrown in for good measure). Ben and I invented a game wherein each player stands waist deep in the ocean, about 20ft apart, and fires a volleyball at one another, on a bounce, to see who can score the most "goals." Or something. That's the kind of day it was, times two.
Overall, Hawaii was warm and beautiful. Ben was an excellent host: he planned nearly every hour of every day of the trip, which can sometimes be a tricky proposition, but honestly I can't say we would've done anything differently. Big, big, tip of the hat to him.
